Galbreath & Elmes – sold by the Tax Collector
to
Asa Murphy 

This Indenture made this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six between Samuel Kratzer Collector of land tax in the County of Fairfield and State of Ohio for the year eighteen hundred and three on the one part and Asa Murphy of the County and State aforesaid on the other part 

Witnesseth that the said Samuel Kratzer for and in consideration of twelve dollars and seventy two cents to him in hand paid by the said Asa Murphy for the after described tract of land sold by the said Samuel Kratzer to the said Asa Murphy on the first Monday of November Anno Domini eighteen hundred and four for the arreages of taxes due from Galbreath and Elmes to the State aforesaid for the year eighteen hundred and three for lands belonging to said Galbreath and Elmes lying in Fairfield County aforesaid agreeable to the Statute Law of this State entitled “an act levying territorial tax on land for the year 1802” the receipt whereof the said Samuel Kratzer doth hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the said Asa Murphy his heirs executors and administrators hath granted bargained and sold unto the said Murphy his heirs and assigns forever four thousand acres of land bounded and described as follows viz :
being the first quarter of the sixth township in the twelfth range
of the tract appropriated for satisfying warrants for military services lying and being in the County of Fairfield aforesaid together with all improvements profits and appurtenances whatsoever to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand of them the said Galbreath and Elmes of in and to the same 

To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed with all and singular the premises and every part and parcel thereof with every the appurtenances unto the said Asa Murphy and to his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Asa Murphy his heirs and assigns forever 

In testimony whereof the said Samuel Kratzer hath hereunto set his hand and seal at Lancaster in the County aforesaid the day and date first above written

Personally came before me Elnathan Scafield one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid Samuel Kratzer and acknowledged that he signed the within deed as his voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes within mentioned. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six
