William Wells

This indenture made this second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three between David Galbreath late of the City of New York Merchant of the one part and William Wells Gentleman of the other part witnesseth that whereas in pursuance of several acts of congress heretofore passed for that purpose The President of the United States did in virtue of the powers and authority in him vested issue letters patent to and in the name of the said David Galbreath and Thomas Elmes granting and conveying to them the second quarter of the first township in the twelfth range and the second quarter of the second township of the tenth range of the tract appropriated for satisfying warrants for military services

Now therefore this indenture witnesseth that the said David Galbreath for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said William Wells at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and quit claimed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and quit claim unto the said William Wells and to his heirs and assigns all the right interest and title of him the said David Galbreath of in and to the before mentioned in described two quarter township of land and to every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances to have and to hold all and singular the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Wells his heirs and assigns to and for his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever

In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year above written

On the 3rd July 1804 before me came Henry Waddle known to me on oath before me made did say that he said saw David Galbreath execute the written deed and that the deponent subscribed his name as a witness thereto that the deponent knew the said David Galbreath and that that he was the same person described by that name in said deed all which is to me satisfactory evidence of the facts so sworn to : I allow it to be recorded
