David Galbreath & Thomas Elmes 

This Indenture made the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one Between John Patrick of the City and State of New York Merchant and Sarah Ann his wife of the first part and Thomas Elmes of the City and State aforesaid and David Galbreath of the City of London in the Kingdom of Great Britain Merchants of the second part 

witnesseth that the said John Patrick and Sarah Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five cents money of the united States to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Elmes and David Galbreath at or before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves to be therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid Have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents Do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said Thomas Elmes and David Galbreath and to their heirs and assigns forever All that tract or parcel of land lying in the Town of Whitehall, County of Washington and State aforesaid and bounded as follows, to wit
Beginning at a beech tree marked on the West side of the waters running from Wood Creek into Lake Champlain about a mile South of the Narrows so called between a place called by the name of the Cold Spring and Whitehall Landing,
and running thence West one hundred and sixty chains,
thence South one hundred and sixty chains,
thence East one hundred and thirty chains to the said waters,
and thence Northerly down along the same as it turns and winds to the place of beginning 

Containing two thousand one hundred and seventy acres, together with all and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, And all the estate, right, title, interest, dower, property, possession, claim and demand whatsoever both at Law and in Equity of them and each of them the said John Patrick and his wife of in and to the said hereby granted premises above mentioned, and every part thereof with the appurtenances 

To have and to hold the said premises above mentioned and hereby granted and released or mentioned or intended so to be and every part and parcel thereof with the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Thomas Elmes and David Galbreath their heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use benefit and behoof of them the said Thomas Elmes and David Galbreath their heirs and assigns forever 

In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written

Sealed and delivered in the presence of James M. Hughes State of New York ss. on this 23rd day of December one thousand eight hundred and one before me personally came and appeared John Patrick and Sarah Ann his wife to me known to be the persons described in and who executed the within Deed who duly acknowledged that they execute the same and the said Sarah Ann being by me examined privately apart from her said husband confessed that she executed the same freely without any fear or compulsion of him And further there being no material erasures or interlineations therein I do allow it to be recorded
