Will of John Bogert, husband of Elizabeth Brasier nee Dally - 1782

In the name of God, Amen. I, Joni BOGERT, of the City of New York, gentleman, being at present in perfect health. I leave to my son Jacobus, £25, as being my eldest son. Unto my beloved wife, as per marriage contract, wherein she releases her dower in my estate, an annuity of £100 during her widowhood, to be paid by my executors in lieu of dower. My executors to put sufficient money at interest out of my personal estate (and proceeds of sale of real estate if the former be insufficient), to produce such annual income. Unto my sons, Peter and Henry, £500 each. The remainder of my estate, including the investment for the annuity to my wife, after her death to go to my sons, Jacobus, Cornelius, Peter and Henry, and my daughters, Ann and Mary, each an equal seventh; the income of the remaining seventh part for the support of my son Nicholas during life. My executors to sell my real estate at publick or private sale to pay legacies and annuity, and repair deficiencies. Such sums of money as any of my children or sons-in-law owe me on book, bond or otherwise, to be deducted from their shares or from their wives' shares respectively. I make my sons, Cornelius, Peter, and Henry, and my friend, Benjamin Kissam, executors.
Dated April 4. 1782. Witnesses. Henry Mitchell
