Last Will and Testament of

Elizabeth Thorp - 1786

I Elizabeth Thorp of Shouldham Thorp in the County of Norfolk Widow being of sound mind and memory do make my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I will and direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid and satisfied and after payment thereof and subject thereto

I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Robert Aylmer of Shouldham in the County aforesaid farmer all my wearing linen and apparel

Also I give and bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth the sum of two hundred pounds

To Elizabeth Hebgin Widow of my late son Thomas Hebgin deceased five pounds

To Elizabeth Hebgin and Mary Curl daughters of the said Elizabeth Hebgin Widow twenty pounds each

To Robert John Thomas and George Aylmer sons of my said daughter Elizabeth Aylmer twenty pounds each

To Ann William and John daughter and sons of my late son William Hebgin twenty pounds each

All my legacies I will and direct should be paid by my executrix and executor herein after named twelve months next after my decease

And in case any of the said legatees should die before their respective legacies shall become payable I give and bequeath the share of him her or them so dying unto my executrix and executor herein after named or the survivor of them equally to be divided between them share and share alike And if but one then to such only one to and for their his or her own use and benefit

And all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath the same to my said daughter Elizabeth Aylmer and my said son William Hebgin their executors or administrators equally to be divided between them share and share alike

And I appoint the said Elizabeth Aylmer and William Hebgin executrix and executor of this my Will And I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Thorp have to this my Last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four
X the mark of Elizabeth Thorp

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Elizabeth Thorp as and for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us (the erasement in the eleventh line being first made)

This Will was proved at Fincham before the Revd. Joseph Forby Clerk Surrogate of the Worshipful George Sanby D.D. Official Principal of the Episcopal Consistorial Court of Norwich on the twenty second day of January in the year of our Lord 1786 & was approved &c and Administration of the goods &c of the testatrix Elizabeth Thorp deceased was then duly granted to William Hebgin her son the only surviving executor in the said Will named He being duly sworn &c saving the right &c.
