The Last Will and Testament
 

of
  Stephen Wellbelove  -  1787


In the name of God Amen I Stephen Wellbelove of Egham in the County of Surrey husbandman being of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God for the same do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following and first I commit my body to the care of my executor herein after mentioned to be decently interred by him and after payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I dispose of my estate and effects as follows that is to say

I give devise and bequeath all that messuage or tenement wherein I now dwell situate lying and being at Egham aforesaid together with the piece of ground or land in the front of the said house containing by estimation six poles or rods be the same more or less portioned or parted of me from other land my property by a quick set hedge on the right hand together with the sheds and turf house and all other outhouses or buildings thereunto belonging or erected thereupon to hold unto my son Thomas Wellbelove his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath all that piece or platt of ground as bounded by the aforesaid quick set hedge on the east and on the west by the late Sir John Elwells? lands and to the north by a crab set hedge and planted with fruit trees containing by estimation eight poles or rods together also with the messuage or tenement erected by my son Richard Wellbelove to hold the said piece or parcel of land together with the said messuage or tenement unto my said son Richard Wellbelove his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath all that piece or platt of land bounding quite up or abutting on the back part of my aforesaid dwelling house and the crab set hedge on the south and on the north by the quick set hedge and planted with fruit trees containing by estimation eight poles or rods together with the messuage or tenement erected thereon by one other of my sons to wit Stephen Wellbelove I do therefore give and devise and bequeath the said last mentioned premises and the said messuage or tenement unto my said son Stephen Wellbelove to hold the same unto the said Stephen Wellbelove his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever

Also I do hereby give and devise and bequeath unto my other son Henry Wellbelove all that piece or platt of land called by me the Reek Yard and adjoining my aforesaid dwelling house and the aforesaid premises some or one of these which said piece of land is planted with fruit trees and is bounded to the south by the last mentioned quick set hedge and to the north by a lane leading to Sow? Brooks and on the west by the late Sir John Elwells? lands to hold the said last mentioned or described piece or parcel of land unto my said son Henry Wellbelove his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever

I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Thomas Denby all my goods and household furniture

Also I give and bequeath all my sheep and asses to be equally between my four sons Richard Stephen Thomas and Henry Wellbelove

All the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my aforesaid five children their executors and administrators share and share alike

I name constitute and appoint my aforesaid son Henry Wellbelove sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Last Wills or Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and in testimony that this is my Last Will and Testament I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other set our names as witnesses hereto

This will was proved at London the third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven before the Worshipful John Nichole Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Henry Wellbelove the son of the deceased and sole executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer.
