The Last Will and Testament

of  Gabriel Slater  -  1741


In the name of God Amen I Gabriel Slater of Ovington in the County of Essex Yeoman do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say

I give and bequeath all my goods chattels and personal estate unto Gabriel Slater and John Slater my two sons equally to be divided between them

And I do make them executors of this my Will revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of August 1741

Signed sealed and declared by me the Testator to be his Last Will in the presence of us Joseph Fitch

This Will of Gabriel Slater dece'd was proved the eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty one before the Reverend Alexander
Vienall(?) Clerk Bachelor of Laws Surrogate to the Worshipful Sir Henry Penrice Knight Doctor of Laws in and through the whole Archdeaconry of Middlesex official principal lawfully appointed by the oath of John Slater a natural and lawful son of the said deceased one of the executors named in the said Will to whom administration was committed he being first sworn and power being reserved for Gabriel Slater also a natural and lawful son of the said deceased the other executor named in the said Will to do the like whensoever he shall lawfully ? the same.
