 Bond of Indemnification


Know all Men by these presents that we James Vauzey of the Parish of Sunninghill, in the County of Berks Footman, and Mathias Vauzey of the Parish of Winkfield in the said County, Labourer, am held and firmly bound unto Richard Price Churchwarden, and John Charlwood Overseer of the Poor of the Parish of Sunninghill in the said County of Berks, in trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish, in Forty Pounds of good and Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Churchwardens, or Overseers, or their Certain Attorney, their Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, to which payment will and truly to be made, We bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally and our and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals, and dated this Fifteenth day of January in the Twenty Eight year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety.

The Condition of this obligation is such that, whereas Sarah Pocock of the Parish of Sunninghill, single woman hath declared herself to be with Child, that the said child is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Sunninghill, and she hath charged the above bounden James Vauzey with having gotten her with child, of the said Bastard Child, if therefore the above bounden James Vauzey and the above Mathias Vauzey or either of them, there or either of their Heirs, Executors, Administrators or assigns do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwarden and Overseer of the Poor of the said Parish of Sunninghill and their successors for the time being also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Sunninghill which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all manner of costs, taxes, rates, assessments and charges whatsoever, for or by reason of the birth, education and maintenance of the said Child, and of and from all actions, suits, troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same that then their obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force.
