Mortgage - Essex County, New Jersey. Mortgage Book B, pg 9 Philip Denman jnr “all that certain tract of land situate lying and being
in the bounds of Elizabeth Town at a place called short-hills, beginning at a
small rock in William Green’s garden, which said tract of land with its appurtenances is
mortgaged by Philip Denman junior of the Borough of Elizabeth, County of Essex
and Province of East New Jersey carpenter unto John Stites of the same place
esquire for the payment of fifty pounds current money with lawful interest
arising from the first day of May last preceding the date of the mortgage which
is on the thirtieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and seventy four, it was acknowledged before Isaac Woodruff esquire the
twenty fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
