Last Will and Testament of

William Cherry - 1679

Memorandum that at or upon the fifteenth day of May 1679 William Cherrie late of Bowers Gifford in the County of Essex singleman being sick of the sickness whereof he died but having an intent to dispose of his estate did declare his mind and make his Will nuncupative or by word of mouth in these or the like words following

Imprimis I give to Matthew Child my partner a sheep

Item I give to both my fellow? maid-servants each of them a lamb

Item I give to Thomas Knight’s child a black lamb

Item I also give to my master John Skilder’s four children each of them a sheep

Item I give to the four young men that shall carry my corpse to church each of them a pair of gloves

I also give to Thomas Knight a pair of gloves and to Thomas Rymes and his wife each of them a pair of gloves and also to my master John Skilder and his wife each of them a pair of gloves and to Goodwife Brigs a pair of gloves

Item all the rest of my goods and chattels whatsoever I give unto Thomas Everard and make him my executor

And these words or words to the same effect the said Wm Cherrie the testator did utter and declare as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of
John Skilder, Thomas Knight, Matthew Child

Credible witnesses
(the wife of)* John Skelder the wife of Thomas Knight the wife of Matthew Child.

*(the wife of) - these words missing however the line only makes sense if included.
