Last Will & Testament of
John RANDALL  -  1811

In the name of God Amen I John Randall of Marston Mortaine in the County of Bedford Yeoman being of sound mind memory understanding do make publish this my last will testament in manner following / that is to say / ....
I give devise bequeath unto my friends Edward Platt of Lidlington in the County of Bedford Esquire, Vincent Wallis of Wootton in the said County of Bedford Gentleman, Edward Smith of Marston Mortaine aforesaid, Yeoman, All every my messuages, cottage, closes, lands, tenements, hereditaments, real estate, situate lying being in the parish of Marston Mortaine aforesaid or elsewhere in the Kingdom of England with their appurtenances and also all my goods, chattels, ready money, securities for money, stock in husbandry, rights, credits, personal estate whatsoever wheresoever to hold unto the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith their heirs executors administrators assigns o the uses upon the trusts for the intents purposes after mentioned, expressed / that is to say /
upon trust, ....
I hereby direct that the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis Edward Smith or the survivor of them or their heirs executors administrators or assigns of the survivor do shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease sell, dispose of convey assure all singular my said real estate either together or in parcels by public auction or private contract as to him or them shall seem best unto any person or persons who shall be willing to become the purchaser or purchasers thereof or of any part thereof for the most money that can be reasonably gottan, for the same to make execute all such deeds, conveyances assurances in the law as shall be necessary or proper for ? the sale transfer thereof And also do shall make sale of, convert into money all every my personal estate as shall not consist of money, call in, compel payment of all such parts thereof as shall consist of money out upon security at interest or otherwise ....
And I will direct that the monies arising by such sale or sales, securities shall be paid into the hands of the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith or the survivor of them or their heirs executors administrators or assigns of such survivor, that the receipt or receipts of them or him for the same shall in all cases be sufficient effectual discharge, discharges for the same sum or sums of money or security for money as shall therein respectively be expressed or acknowledged to have been received or given, such purchaser or purchaser, the person or persons paying any sum or sums of money his her or their heirs executors or administrators shall not afterwards be obliged to see to the application thereof be in any manner answerable or accountable for the loss misapplication or non application of the same or any part thereof And I hereby direct that my said trustees shall do out of the monies to arise by or from any of the means aforesaid to pay off discharge all my debts, funeral expenses, after payments thereof I will direct that the following legacies be paid / that is to say / ....

I give bequeath unto my son Thomas Randall the sum of ten pounds

I give bequeath unto my son John Randall the sum of ten pounds

I give bequeath unto my son Richard Randall the sum of ten pounds

I give bequeath unto my son William Randall the sum of ten pounds

I give bequeath unto my son James Randall the sum of one hundred fifty pounds

I give bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Barrick the sum of twenty pounds

I give bequeath unto my son in law Ambrose Platt the sum of ten pounds

I give bequeath unto my grandson Edward Randall the sum of thirty pounds

I give bequeath unto my grandson John Platt the sum of thirty pounds also

I give bequeath to each of my said trustees the said Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith the sum of ten pounds for their trouble in the execution of this my will, I direct that all the abovenamed legacies shall be paid within six months next after my decease And after payment of which said legacies, all other payments that may be incident to or attend or be incurred in the execution of the trustees of this my will Then

I will direct that the residue of the monies that shall come into, then remain in the hands of my said trustees by virtue of this my will shall be by them equally divided, paid to my wife Sarah Randall, my youngest daughter Ann Randall to for their own use, benefit provided always

I will direct that the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith my said trustees shall not, nor shall either of them or their heirs executor administrators or assigns of either of them be answerable or accountable for any money or effects to be received by virtue of or under any of the trusts hereby in them reposed any otherwise them each of them for such sum, sums of money or other effects as he she or they shall respectively receive, that neither of them shall be answerable or accountable for the acts receipts neglects defaults or disbursements of the other of them or for any loss or losses which may happen to be incurred without their wilful neglect or default respectively
And also that they the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith their heirs executors administrators or assigns shall may by out of the respective monies which shall come to their hands by virtue of the several trusts aforesaid be allowed, retain to, reimburse themselves all such loss, charges, damages, expenses as they respectively shall pay, sustain or be put unto in about the execution of this my will, the trusts hereby in them exposed or in any wise relating thereto And I hereby nominate constitute appoint the said Edward Platt, Vincent Wallis, Edward Smith joint executors of this my will, do hereby revoke all former wills at any time heretofore by me made executed, do declare this only to be my last will, testament, In witness whereof I have to this my last will, testament contained in three sheets of paper to the first, second sheets thereof set my hand to this third last sheet thereof my hand seal this twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred tenth
