Will - Humphrey UNDERHILL  - 1635


 
In the Name of God Amen I Humphry Underhill of Crimscock [Crimscote] in the Countie of Warwick Gent beeinge sick in bodie but in perfect memorie I thanke my Lord God doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge First I will give and bequeath my soule to Almightie God by whose death and passion I hope to be saved and my bodie to be buried within the church or churchyard of Whitchurch And for the disposinge of my goods and chattells I will and bequeath them as followeth
 
First I give to our church of Whitchurch x.s [10s]
 
Item I give to our parson or that minister that shall pre'ing [presiding?] at my funeral vi.s [6s]
 
Item I give to the poore Cottagers of our parish ii.s vi.d [2s 6d] to everie household,
 
Item I give to my eldest sone John Underhill in full satisfaction of his whole porcon [portion] xii.d [12d] of lawfull money of England
 
I give to Thomas Underhill my second sone in full satisfaction of his whole porcon xii.d [12d]
 
I give to my third sone Humphry Underhill in full satisfaction of his whole porcon xii.d [12d]
 
Item I give and bequeath unto George Underhill my youngest sone one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid to him when he shall accomplishe the age of one and twentie yeares And I will that if hee dye before he come to that age that then the same hundred pounds shall within six months next after his decease be divided amongst my other children that are weakest in estate at the discression of my executrix and my overseers hereafter named And untill my said son George shall accomplishe the age of one and twentie yeares I will that my Executrix shall either place him out in service or els alow him competent meanes to maintaine him for that hee doe not execeed the some of eight pounds by the yeare
 
Item I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Deanes three score [60] pounds of lawful money of England to be paid to her within sixe months after she shall either prefer her selffe in marriage or depte? [debt?] from my wife whereupon my will is that my said daughter Deanes shall live with all after my decease sountill [so until] such tyme as she doe prefer her selffe, and dureinge that tyme she shall wate [wait] and attend one [on] her mother and have mete [meat] drinke and fortie shillings yeare to be pad her by x.s [10s] per quarter
 
Item my will is that if my daughter Deanes do die before she receave this porcon above named, then I will and bequeath ten pounds of the same three score unto Mary Deanes her daughter to be paide or put out for her use within sixe months next after her mothers decease And the other twenty pounds I leave to my executrix
 
Item I give to my sone in law Anthony Ems and Anne his wife in full satisfaction of their whole porcions
 
Item I give Lenord Clarke [Leonard Clark] my sone in law and Kathrine his wife in full satisfaction of their whole porcions xii.d [12d]
 
Item I give to everie grandchilde I have liveinge at the tyme of my decease xii.d [12d] a peece [apiece]
 
Item I give to my godson Humphry Underhill vi.s viii.d [6s 8d] And I doe forgive him all the money he oweth mee
 
And the rest of my goods and chattells what soever I give and bequeath to Jane Underhill my dearely beloved wife whom I doe make ordayne and constitute full and sole executrix of this my last will and testament And I doe make Sir Edward Underhill knight and William Barnes gent overseers of the same unto whome I give vi.s viii.d [6s 8d] apeec [apiece] to buye eiche [each] of them a paire og gloves, In wytnes whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the five and twentieth daye of February Anno Domini 1632.

Item wainscot table boards chaires former? & joynd stooles a smale [small?] cubbard in the chimney £7 10s
Item 2 double garners one cheese presse on longe kever a pouderinge tubb a flower tubb a standing press a sauv? [sieve?]and other trumprie and smale boards and the an iorine [iron?] bound chest 4 shelves 4 barells and the standes under them £12
Item debts which are oweinge unto the testator upon good securatye £450
