-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This deed was recorded as John Stiles and not John Stites. However the following deeds in the Secretary of State’s Office, New York*, confirm that township 11 and other Tioga properties were sold and bought by John Stites. *Secretary of State - New York - Deed Books 24, pgs 217, 25/129, 25/137, 25/150.

This mis-transcibing of John Stites’s name as Stiles is quite common. To prevent further perpetuation of the incorrect spelling in this deed, I have amended the spelling in this transcription to reflect the true name of John Stites.
