Sarah Schouten - Deed of Mortgage

To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come to know ye that I Sarah Scouten of the City of New York Widow for and in consideration of a certain sum of money to me in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof Geertruydt Van Cortland of New York aforesaid also Widow Hath granted bargained sold assigned and made over and by these presents doth grant bargain sell assign and make over all and that my dwelling house wherein I now live together with the garden and all other rights privileges & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any manner of ways appertaining 

To have and to hold the said house and ground garden and all other the rights privileges and appurtenances the same lying and being in the City of New York in a certain Street or place commonly called and known by the name of Pearle Street unto the said Geertruydt Van Cortland her heirs and assigns to the sale and only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Geertruydt Van Cortland her heirs and assigns forever 

warranty the same from me my heirs executors and administrators all and every other person or persons whatsoever laying any claim by from or under me provided upon this condition that if in case the said Sarah Scouten her heirs executors and administrators doth well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Geertruydt Van Cortland her heirs or assigns the full and just sum of twenty four pounds seven shillings and seven pence current silver money of New York at the now dwelling house of the said Geertruydt Van Cortland at or upon the twenty fourth day of June next which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eight that then this present Deed is to be void and of none effect otherwise to remain and be in full force 

In witness whereof the said Sarah Scouten hath hereunto set her hand and seal this twenty fourth day of June A.D. 1707

Sealed and delivered in the presence of Hendrick Jellis Myer, D.L.Grand 

New York Nov ye 22d 1708
Then appeared before me Walter Thong one of her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the City of New York within named Sarah Scouten Widow and did acknowledge this Instrument to be her voluntary act and deed as witness my hand ye day and year above written
