“all that messuage or tenement or lot of land commonly known and called by the name of Thomas’s Ferry,
bounded on the West by land of Jonathan Dayton Esq.
on the North East by land of the said John Stites
South East by the Sound which divides the State of New Jersey from the State of New York
and South West by land of Stites & Ryerss
containing about six acres of land together with all the buildings docks, stairs, causeways, ways, ferries, …..timents and appurtenances to the said messuage or tenement & lot of land belonging or in any way appertaining, & also all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Stites, of in, or to, the same or any part thereof which said premises with their appurtenances”

are mortgaged by John Stites of Elizabeth Town in the County of Essex and State of New Jersey to Robinson Thomas of the same place for the better securing the payment of one thousand pounds current money of the State of New York agreeably to the condition of a certain bond or obligation and promissory note bearing even date with these presents – 

Said mortgage is dated the 1st of September in the year of our Lord 1796 was acknowledged before William Shute Esq. the 7th of October 1796 was received in the office and recorded the 24th December 1796

Be it remembered that on this 12th day of July AD 1798 the original mortgage herein recorded was produced the same being fully cancelled and discharged
