Mortgage - Essex County, New Jersey. Mortgage Book B, pg 112 Jos. Denman “All that certain tract of land lying and being in the
Borough aforesaid beginning at the white oak standing in the middle of the
highway leading from the first maintain to Elizabeth Town which said tract of land, with the appurtenances is
mortgaged by Joseph Denman of the Borough of Elizabeth in the County of Essex
unto Samuel Brooks and Jonathan J. Dayton, executors of John Stites deceased for
the payment of one hundred and forty six pounds and seven shillings proclamation
money of New Jersey, in one year from the date of the mortgage with lawful
interest from the said date the second day of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty five, was acknowledged before Isaac Woodruff
Esq. the twenty fourth and brought to the office and recorded the twenty six day
