“All that certain tract of land lying and being in the Borough aforesaid beginning at the white oak standing in the middle of the highway leading from the first maintain to Elizabeth Town
it being the Northern most corner of Stephen Woodruff’s land,
thence running North forty eight degrees and twenty minutes West thirteen chains + four links to a stake,
thence South forty five degrees West forty chains and eight links to a stake,
thence South forty eight degrees and twenty minutes East thirteen chains + twenty one links and a half to land of James Clark,
thence North forty five degrees East forty chains and eight links to the first mentioned corner,
containing fifty two acres and a half bounded North West by land of the said Joseph Denman
South West by land of Thomas Wills,
South East by land of James Clark, and Stephen Woodruff
and North East by the aforesaid road,” 

which said tract of land, with the appurtenances is mortgaged by Joseph Denman of the Borough of Elizabeth in the County of Essex unto Samuel Brooks and Jonathan J. Dayton, executors of John Stites deceased for the payment of one hundred and forty six pounds and seven shillings proclamation money of New Jersey, in one year from the date of the mortgage with lawful interest from the said date the second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, was acknowledged before Isaac Woodruff Esq. the twenty fourth and brought to the office and recorded the twenty six day of September following.

Be it remembered that on the on the 22d day of January in the year of our Lord 1790 Jonathan J. Dayton produced in the office the original mortgage herein recorded the same being fully cancelled and discharged.
