Leonard M. Cutting
to
John Stites 

This indenture made the tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three between Leonard M. Cutting of the one part and John Stites of Elizabeth Town in the State of New Jersey Merchant of the other part 

Witnesseth that the said Leonard M. Cutting for and in consideration of the sum of ten shillings current money of the State of New York to him in hand paid by the said John Stites the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold remised released and quit claim and by these presents doth bargain sell remise release and quit claim unto the said John Stites his heirs and assigns All that certain tract of land situate in the County of Tioga and distinguished on a map thereof filed in the Secretary’s Office by Township number eleven of the twenty Townships laid out for sale on the west side of the Unadilla River

beginning at a Beech Tree marked for the South East corner of the said Township,
the North East corner of Township number fourteen,
the North West corner of Township number fifteen,
and the South West corner of Township number ten
and running thence the following courses as the same have been surveyed and marked
North five hundred chains,
West five hundred and twenty four chains,
South five hundred chains,
and East five hundred and twenty four chains
to the place of beginning containing twenty six thousand two hundred acres 

together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining with all the estate right title property interest claim or demand whatsoever of him the said Leonard M. Cutting of in or to the premises or any part thereof with the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions rents issues and profits of all and singular the said premises with the appurtenances 

To have and to hold all and singular the said premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Stites his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said John Stites his heirs and assigns forever 

In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written

Received the day and year within mentioned of the within John Stites the sum of ten shillings the consideration money within expressed to be paid

Be it remembered that on the twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three personally appeared before me John Ray one of the Masters in Chancery for the State of New York, the within mentioned Leonard M. Cutting, who acknowledged that he sealed and delivered the within Indenture of Release as his voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and I having perused the same and finding no material erasures or interlineations do allow the same to be recorded

The preceding Deed was recorded at the request of John Stites the Release examined and compared with the original this 15th day of July 1793 (page 129 line 10th the word “Township” being written on an erasure)
