Deed – Secretary of State, New York. Deed Book 25, pgs 150 Leonard M. Cutting This indenture made the sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and ninety three between Leonard M. Cutting of the one
part and John Stites of Elizabeth Town in the State of New Jersey Merchant of
the other part Witnesseth that the said Leonard M. Cutting for and in consideration of the
sum of ten shillings to him in hand paid by the said John Stites the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold remised released
aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell
remise release alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said John Stites his heirs and
assigns All that certain tract of land situate in the County of Tioga and State
of New York being the North West quarter part of Township fifteen of the twenty
Townships laid out for sale on the west side of the Unadilla River as the said
quarter is bounded and described in the map and field book thereof filed in the
Secretary’s Office of the State aforesaid the quarter part containing about
six thousand three hundred and thirty three acres be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging or in
any wise appertaining, with all the estate right title property interest claim
or demand whatsoever of him the said Leonard M. Cutting of in or to the premises
or any part thereof with the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions
rents issues and profits of all and singular the said premises with the
appurtenances To have and to hold all and singular the said premises with the appurtenances
unto the said John Stites his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and
behoof of him the said John Stites his heirs and assigns forever And the said Leonard M. Cutting for himself his heirs and assigns doth
covenant and grant to and with the said John Stites his heirs and assigns that
he the said Leonard M. Cutting hath at the execution of these presents in
himself full clear and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple in the
above described premises and every part thereof and that the same are free and
clear of all incumbrances and former conveyances whatsoever and the said Leonard
M. Cutting and his heirs the said hereby bargained and sold premises and every
part thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John Stites his heirs and
assigns against him the said Leonard M. Cutting his heirs or any other person or
persons lawfully claiming or to claim any estate right title or interest in the
same or any part thereof shall and will warrant and by these presents forever
defend In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto set their
hands and seals the day and year first above written Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Received the day and year within mentioned of the within named John Stites
the sum of ten shillings being the consideration money within expressed to be
paid Be it remembered that on the seventh day of August in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and ninety three personally appeared before me John
Ray one of the Masters in Chancery for the State of New York, William Cutting
one of the subscribing witnesses to the within Indenture who being duly sworn
declared that he saw the within named Leonard M. Cutting execute the within
Indenture of Release as his voluntary act and deed for the uses therein
contained, and that he the deponent together with De Witt Clinton the other
subscribing witness signed their names as evidences thereto, and there appearing
no material erasures or interlineations in the said Indenture I do allow the
same to be recorded The preceding Instrument was recorded at the request of the grantee. Examined
and compared with the original this 19th day of August 1793 (page 150
