This Indenture made the eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two between David Galbreath late of the City of New York and Thomas Elmes now of the same place Merchants of the one part and Jonas Stanbery and Jonathan Dayton Esqr. of the other part 

Witnesseth that whereas in pursuance of the several Acts of Congress heretofore passed for that purpose the President of the United States did in virtue of the powers and authority in him vested issue Letters of Patent to and in the name of the said David Galbreath and Thomas Elmes granting and conveying to them the following tracts of land, to wit
the first quarter of the seventh township in the first range
the second quarter of the first township in the eleventh range
the first quarter in the fourth township in the thirteenth range
the first quarter in the third township in the seventeenth range
the first quarter of the fifth township in the seventeenth range
and the first quarter in the sixth township in the seventeenth range
in the tract appropriated for satisfying warrants for Military Service – 

now therefore this Indenture witnesseth that the said David Galbreath and Thomas Elmes for and in consideration of the sum of eight thousand dollars of them in hand paid by the said Jonas Stanberry and Jonathan Dayton the receipt whereof is acknowledged have granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed by these presents do grant bargain sell convey and confirmed unto the said Jonas Stanberry and Jonathan Dayton their heirs and assigns as tenants in common all the before mentioned and described six quarter townships of the tract aforesaid estimated to contain in the whole twenty three thousand four hundred and thirty acres – 

To have and to hold all and singular the said tract of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Jonas Stanbery and Jonathan Dayton their heirs and assigns to and for their own use benefit and behoof forever and the said David Galbreath and Thomas Elmes for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do covenant and agree to and with the said Jonas Stanberry and Jonathan Dayton their heirs executors administrators and assigns that they the said David Galbreath and Thomas Elmes now have in themselves full power and lawful authority by these presents to grant bargain sell release and convey the said six quarter township of land with all the appurtenances unto the said Jonas Stanberry and Jonathan Dayton their heirs and assigns in manner aforesaid according to the true intent and meaning of these presents and that free and clear of all encumbrances forever 

In witness whereof the parties to theses presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year above written

Sealed and delivered in the presence of  James M. Hughes 

State of new York S.S.
On the 9th day of December 1802 before me personally came Thomas Elmes also David Galbreath by the said Thomas Elmes his Atty. within named to me known who duly acknowledged that they executed the within Deed for the uses therein mentioned and there being no material erasure or interlineations therein I do allow it to be recorded
