TWELFTH GENERATION

Richard? SPITTEY.

There were a number of Richard Spitty's that could be the father, if indeed his father is named Richard, which is a possibility as the use of Richard has been used by Spitty's since at least 1539. There are three Richards who all died in 1633/4, one a Gent of Broomfield, and two from South Fambridge, a yeoman and a carpenter. The latter two did not name any children in their wills, the Broomfield Richard had a son Richard, who might be the Richard of Gray's Inn who also named no children in his will (1642). However the Sth Fambridge Richard and the Broomfield Richard named each other as cousins in their wills of 1633. There is much work to be done to work out these relationships and the parentage of this Richard.

Children were:

childi.    Richard SPITTY.
childii.   Mary SPITTY - Spouse of Edmund HOUSE / HAWSE. Mentioned in brother Richard's will, although relationship not given most likely a sister.
