NINTH GENERATION


John GURNETT. His origins are not known at this stage. He was buried on 8 May 1744 in West Thurrock, Essex

A possible baptism for John is in the neighbouring parish of South Ockendon :-
1 Mar 1701, GURNET, John son of John & Mary, born 24th Feb.

He was married to Anna Green in 1729 in West Thurrock.

Anna GREEN. Nothing more is known of Anna's parentage or origins. She was buried on the 25 May 1758 in West Thurrock.

In a mortgage document of 1767 (ERO ref D/DWh/223) Ann Gurnett is mentioned in relation to two properties in West Thurrock :- 
"...A farmhouse called the Parsonage House together with the pieces of upland & marsh belonging to it (181 acres) late in occupation of widow Stephens, Ann Gurnett widow, & Thomas Fretton..."
&
"...also a close , once part of the possessions of Lady Lake in occupation of Ann Gurnett, called the Marsh."

Children were:-

child i. Joseph GURNETT was christened on 3 Apr 1732 in West Thurrock and buried on the 12th June 1737.
child ii. Simeon GURNETT was christened on 7 Apr 1730 in West Thurrock, and buried on the 30th June 1737.
child iii. Mary GURNETT was christened on 25 March 1734 in West Thurrock.
She died on 6 October 1769 and was buried on 11 October 1769 in West Thurrock.
child iv. William GURNETT was christened on 6 Dec 1736 in West Thurrock.
